MAX Architects Max Titchmarsh

Max Titchmarsh


Max founded the studio in September 2011. Originally set up as the London office of the international SPARK Architects, MAX became independent in April 2016 to re-focus on the London and UK markets.

Max has balanced his work on a broad range of national and international high-profile projects with a strong focus on central London, where his skills and network have been built up over 20 years’ of working in the capital.

His work involves leading bids for private- and public-sector work, directing the design process and engaging with key stakeholders in securing the support and developer interest necessary for the long-term deliverability of complex urban schemes.

Max was previously a Director at Alsop Architects where he worked from 1993 to 2011.

Within the studio, Max has instilled a highly creative and collaborative approach and believes firmly that place-making begins with a bold but sustainable vision. He is committed to meeting the changing needs of the UK development community, bringing innovation and intelligent solutions to help create and unlock value in constrained urban and brownfield sites, including former gasholder sites throughout the UK.

MAX Architects Ashley Gilbert

Ashley Gilbert


Ashley joined MAX in March 2013, having previously worked for various studios throughout Canada. She has a wealth of experience in London mixed-use projects, with international experience in both Russia and the Middle East. Ashley has worked on various residential, resort and community infrastructure schemes.

Along with Ashley’s wide range of skills, she brings both a creative and rational approach, to her design work at MAX.

During her time at MAX, Ashley has worked on a wide-range of new and refurbishment projects in England and Scotland including large-scale mixed-use, residential, commercial, and hotel schemes. She has worked on the design and delivery of a radical new community initiative in SW9 to provide a community hub for a wide range of charitable and social functions

For the past few years at MAX, her main focus has been the redevelopment of a number of former gasholder sites throughout the UK, which has primarily involved converting brownfield sites into large-scale residential-led schemes.

Martina Riva


Martina joined MAX Architects in 2020, after previously working for various practices in Italy, France, and the UK. She has gained experience in residential, commercial and cultural projects, and combines a strong technical background with a creative approach to architecture.

Martina graduated in Building Engineering and Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy. During her work experience, she has collaborated on numerous projects, ranging from interior renovations of commercial spaces to the 2016 post-earthquake refurbishment of several houses in central Italy.

After moving to London in 2018, Martina has been working on big residential schemes, such as the regeneration of the Former Nestlé Factory area in Hayes.

At MAX Architects, Martina is working on a large-scale residential-led regeneration scheme in London.

Joshua Thomson

Architectural Assistant

Joshua joined MAX in 2020, and prior to that worked for London-based practices Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands and Studio RHE. He is especially experienced with mixed-use commercial and residential projects in central London, as well as resort projects and private houses in Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.

Whilst at Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, Joshua was focused on a range of central London projects, such as the redevelopment of Hanover Square.

During his time with Studio RHE, Joshua worked on Republic, a commercial campus in East London, and ran the Third Space Soho refurbishment from concept through to delivery on site. He also worked on the design of a luxury golf resort in Saint Lucia and a private house near Monaco.

At MAX Architects, Josh is working on large-scale residential schemes in London and Kent.
